I'm often askedwhy I paint both abstractlandscapesandrealist ones.In fact, when I painta landscape, I would like to represent what andhow I feel rather than just what I see. What Iwould like to representisthe feelingof well-beingthat I feel, sometimes this is reflected inan abstract painting, other timesit is better reflected in arealistic one. The ancientChinese philosophyasserts that allpeopleand things havean energy thatis calledQI, thisenergy canbe positive or negative,IJngorYang.Thesituation is wider than this, but I believethat eventhe landscapesthathavethis energy andthoseof the Sienese countrysideemanateapositivecompletelyenergy.
The landscapesaround Sienaare always different and alwaysbeautiful:they are greenin spring, when the grainis ripe they become yellowand ocher, then they turn gray. But the feeling ofbeauty thatyou feel ismoredue to the workof the man who, over the centuries, hasimproved.
